Coach CornerEquipmentFirst custom Racket
Jonas Euler asked 5 days ago

Hi Coaches,
I’m planning to get my own custom racket soon and would love your opinion before I buy. My setup idea is:

  • Blade: Stiga Allround Classic
  • Forehand: Donic Vario Soft 2.0 mm
  • Backhand: Victas VJ>07 Regular 1.8 mm

I’m still developing my technique and I’m not a very aggressive player – I enjoy backhand spin blocks and controlled rallies more than full-power attacks. I also play quite a lot outdoors with friends, so I’d like the setup to be durable and not too sensitive to conditions.
Do you think this combination makes sense for someone with my goals, or would you suggest any changes to the blade or rubbers to better support technique development and durability?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey Jonas! The all-round classic is a perfect blade for someone developing technique so that’s ideal, the rubbers I would say perhaps maybe something a touch harder on the forehand as it’s the stroke where you can generate more power and the slightly firmer rubber will be best in the long term. So maybe the Donic Vario in the normal rather than soft version. For the backhand side I think that’s fine and the slightly thinner sponge will give you lore control. I hope that makes sense. Any questions on it just let me know. Thanks , Tom 🙂
