forehand-adjustment
Hi Dan
Further to your reply to the last video I had a closer look at the footage to see if I could make my stroke more relaxed. What I thought could be a problem was that my arm was tucked tight into my side at an angle of approx. 90 degrees which restricted backswing and body turn. i have attached a video link to show the adjustment I made to the angle of my arm from 90 degrees to approc. 45 degrees which gave me more control and consistency further back from the table (as well as my feet positioning!!
I start off with slow topspin then buld up speed before applying heavier topspin (notice the angle of the bat using Dignics 90c on the forehand)
Let me know if I am on the right road as I will then be able to develop the stroke further.
I have atached the link below. Thanks again.

Hi Alex,
Yes this new video you sent looks better already and more relaxed too! The angle of the arm looks good and it seems you are more comfortable innthe position and it will help you stay loose. I think if you can keep working in this and also getting your elbow to be loose so you can use it to hinge the forearm into the shot this will help a lot too.
Again it’s just linked t being relaxed and having maybe a slightly looser grip on the bat which allows your arm to be free to really accelerate into the ball. But this is already a good step forward so keep up this practice! 🙂
Thanks Dan
Great advice
A more relaxed elbow and looser grip sounds good. I am currently practising fast topspin forehand counter attack taking the ball at the top and just after the top of the bounce so I will incorporate this into the stroke. Also working on the development of new services. Hopefully once I can get back to the club after lockdown I shall be ready for competitive matches!!
I will keep you up to date on progress.
Alex
