Coach CornerForhand topspin
Gabriel Kozakevych asked 3 weeks ago

Hi i have a big Problem in my forhand topspin that i somehow can Not keep relaxed and only tense up in the contact Point. The think is even at warm Up If i try to Play topspins with max Speed and my opponent Blocks fast Back many Balls there i Mostly shorten the stroke because the ball is coming fast Back but also If the ball comes fast Back i can Not somehow relax the right way i feel like going immediately into the shot i dont have this phase of Reaktion and this IS the Problem why my arm fatique fast. Do you know how i can fix this maybe also some Shadow Drills to make IT Automatic especially If my opponent Blocks the Ball fast Back to Back ?

A great way to help with this is focusing on the lower part of your arm from the elbow. Think of the upper arm and should just helping to keep the shot stable but from the elbow and lower arm you need to be loose and relaxed which will allow you to accelerate through each shot but not get too tired quickly. Also focusing on having a good use of the legs and body turn will really help because those are the bigger muscles and body parts which can generate power and help you need to use the arm less and then you can keep it much more relaxed as you swing through the forehand topspin’s.
