How short pips chop a short topspin serve or deadball serve
Hey! Do you mean, how to use short pips against a short topspin sere or dead ball?
How does Hou Yingchao return a short deadball or short topspin ball?
He will use the pips to really push through and slice into and under the ball and get it deep in the table and low. A lot of this type of shot is having the right contact on the ball and keeping a good low body position and stepping in close to the ball with your head and body.
The reason why I’m asking is because he chops back almost every serve he gets which means there has to be variation on what he receives so I wonder how he does that to short topspin or deadballs
Yeah he’s very strong on the return, with short topspin or dead balls of course he has to change his bat angle to keep the ball low and deep in the table. To be honest the variety in his returns will come from using the opponent’s spin but also the placement too
Gotcha so should I contact the back of the ball and work my way under it and then through the side or just go under and through the side?
Yeah I feel you can experiment slightly here to get different variation but definitely across to the side will give you a lot of control and deception. I’d say contacting the back of the ball and across on a dead or topspin ball will give you the most success
