How to choose between blades/rubbers
Hello coaches!
For the pastoor few months I’ve been playing with a Butterfly Peter Korbel Japan blade, with T05 en Rozena rubbers. I feel very consistent with these rubbers and blade, although My backhand kill shots, and sometimes my forehand kill loops don’t feel as fast as I would like. I played with a Viscaria with the same rubbers before this, but this blade feels a little fast sometimes. My 3rd blade is a Xiom Hugo Calderano SAL (with J&H Z52,5 FH, and Vega Pro BH), which is supposedly in between these 2 in terms of speed (although I have a waaay to hard forehand rubber on this one).
What factors and other things do I keep in mind before finally choosing and sticking with a blade and rubbers?
Hey Casper, to be honest it really comes down to personal feeling and when you play which one feels right to you, because it’s different for everyone’s different style and different people like the feeling of different equipment. So I’d do some testing with all 3 of them in drills and some match play and this will give you the best idea of which bat setup you feel the most comfortable with and is the most balanced for you.
The main thing to keep in mind is does it fit your style and strengths, like do you feel your best shots work well with it, and what limits does it have with control or speed and can you still work on your weaknesses and improve it with the bat you choose 🙂
