Low balls in table tennis
Hi i have a question i struggle very much against Low Balls in table Tennis even If the are Long or half Long Most of the time here i feel like i Always need to Open Up with Spin and can Not generate Speed. For example my opponent can Just Always Block Back with No Spin very Low and i am Just opponent coutinue Up with Spin and than the whole rally Like i dont get the Chance to Play a Shot with Speed because my opponent all the time IS able to Block Back very Low my question is how its possible to Attack very Low Balls with No Spin with Speed do i need to shorten my stroke very much and Just going Forward with a upward Arc and the Same for These backspin Balls. I mean Here for the forhand and Backhand topspin maybe It becomes a Drive ?
It is more difficult to play fast on these type of shots and it’s something I’m actually working on in my game at the moment as well. To play a strong shot against a low ball you really need to be in position early for the shot and have a good snap and quick contact on the ball. Sometimes I have the same thing where I’m a bit late for the ball then the only choice you have is to play slower and with more spin. So the most key thing is footwork and getting to the ball early, then it’s about having a fast acceleration and a firmer contact on the ball but still going for a bit of spin of course. Dan 🙂
