Match Analysis
Hey Dan and Tom,
I am really enjoying my subscription to your academy!
I recently recorded a match of myself. Here are the links to each of the three games:
Can you please analyse the match and provide some feedback and advice? Many thanks!
Hi Sweetiele, great to hear you are enjoying the Academy!
Looks like your doing well and playing a good level, here are a few main points for you to focus on to build and improve your game:
-Keeping your serves short and 2 bounces on your opponents side
-Trying to make the first topspin in the rally, your forehand is very strong so you need to use it more
-Staying low when stepping in and out from the table like when returning serve
-When pushing try to push through underneath the ball smoothly and not to quick (Imagine the feeling of the ball staying on your bat long when pushing)
-On both backhand block and topspin try to keep the bat angle more closed, when playing a topspin this lets you brush on top of the ball.
-Sometimes when returning with your backhand the next ball you get caught in the middle and play a backhand, this next ball from the middle try to use your forehand.
These are a few good things to work and focus on, if you want any more detail or information on any of these points I’ll be happy to get back to you on that. I think you should try to base your game around your strong forehand and using this shot more, it will require good serves and footwork but I feel this is your best style to improve!
Hope that’s helpful!
Thanks for the reply!
