mid-distance
Hey guys, I’ve been feeling quite stuck in the same level recently. I feel as if there’s not much to my game apart from playing close to the table. I want to have a bit of both where I can play close to the table and can go mid distance as I do get caught out when I’m close to the table. Then I dont have any options to try to get back in the point if you know what I mean. How do I implement going mid distance while playing quality shots to keep my opponent on the back foot.
Thanks
Hey Hamza, so to do this you need to train drills where you change your distance from the table and your timing changes to get used to playing more at mid distance. So I’d even start off with simple drills like playing forehand topspin close to the table and then gradually dropping back to mid distance and then back in again. Of course the same on the backhand side. Also try starting from mid distance with your topspin shots and then playing a strong or faster one to get back into the table.
Another good way to work on this is playing loop to loop with your opponent so you get used to being mid distance and controlling spin and power. Dan 🙂
