Coach CornerEquipmentNew-rubbers
Nomad asked 3 years ago

Hi Guys
First of all I am delighted to tell you that our team has now won the divisional league.  From a personal point of view your help over the last year or so has helped develop my game to the next level since returning to competitive play after a 20 year absence….so thanks for all your advice. I am now looking forward to next year and I am thinking about ordering new rubbers.  I currently am using D.N.A. Pro hard on both sides and I looked at your review on the most recent addition to the Stiga range, D.N.A. Platinum. You have already seen some of the latest videos I sent and so should have some idea of the style of play I use.
Basically I have a medium to strong spin on the forehand with a consistent hard flat smash (keeping close to the table).  I would like to develop my counter topspin from further back when I am forced back from the table (which you demonstrated in the video.)  My backhand is consistent in pushing with a strong block and fast drive and my backhand flick is progressing.
Given this style of play what rubbers would you recommend I look at.  I am happy with the D.N.A. Pro but think I could possibly benefit from the D.N.A. Platinum but not sure if using the Medium version on the backhand would suit rather than the Hard version.
I would appreciate your thoughts.  (By the way, I didn’t see a price for the Platinum version of D.N.A)
Kind Regards
Alex

Hey Alex,

Thats brilliant to hear and we’re so glad that we have been able to help you achieve this and your continued improvements! So I can definitely answer this question well as I also use DNA Pro hard both sides and have rested the DNA platinum too. Personally I stayed with the DNA Pro as the platinum is quite a big jump up in speed and because of this of course less control. For me I found I preferred having the control and easier ability to get more spin with the pro. The platinum is great for all out attacking shots but pro is more balanced and controlled, when playing slower shots, short game or wanting to generate spin.

Now of course everyone is different and will like different rubbers but I feel for most players the pro is more than fast enough but still has great control, so I would suggest sticking with what you have as the platinum is quite a bit faster.

Regards, Tom

Hi Tom
I think I would like to keep the conttol I have rather than change to a faster rubber but lose an element of control.

Thanks again
Alex
