Coach CornerMatch playopening-up
Hamza Caratela asked 4 weeks ago

Hi guys, I’ve been having this problem for a really long time now and bits costing me points during matches. Whenever I open up from backhand or forehand I tend to panic and start slapping the ball, I’m not playing proper shots. I’m all panicky and tense on where the ball is going and I’m now afraid to open up. When I play defensively people start attacking me and I lose all co fidence in my shots. I play close to the table to keep in mind. Do I need to change anything on where I’m placed? Thanks

Hey Hamza, you might need to give yourself a bit more space back from the table when playing an open up so you feel less rushed and panicky, this will allow you to keep the spin on the ball and still get good quality. Try it in practice where you give yourself more space when playing your open up and see how it feels

You might also need to really focus more knowledge the feet and legs and getting into position more quickly to again give yourself more time. Let us know how you get on!
