Coach CornerMatch playPositioning during a point

Hi Coaches!

i’ve been running into a problem lately. I know that my strongest loops (both forehand and backhand) are from mid-far distance, but my teammates keep telling me I should keep playing close to the table. Whenever I’m close to the table, I manage to spin a ball, but usually end up blocking the next one due to having too little time for another swing. Do you have any videos/tips about this topic?

Hey Casper, I would say that you know best what your strengths are and that you should always try to play the way you feel most comfortable. Playing from mid distance is fine if you can play good topspin shots from there and keep the opponent under pressure.
I would say it’s probably good for your game to work on and start to bring in being able to play strong close to the table as well and be confident there to recover fast and not block the next ball. this will add more variety in your game and help you against good blocking players to be able to take the ball earlier and give them less time.
But this is something you can work on in training and gradually bring into matches as you feel more confident with it I would say 🙂

Okay, I’ll have my last match of the season tomorrow. I’ll try to keep this in mind
