Question about the timo Boll alc and its advantages
Hi i would generelly Like to ask a question Just to be sure about it. So its about the Timo Boll alc Blade and i think It would be great if dan could answer the question because he has used the Timo Boll alc for some time. So my question is i feel that with the Timo Boll alc blade really blocking Is not working well anymore because i always have to block actively and even than it feels that i have Not so good feel when blocking compared to the Counter topspin. So what i Just think is that really i have to Play always a Kind of counter topspin against the topspins of my opponents.and that this Is now generally the only way to Play Against topspin Attacks. Also AS i Already sad before can you maybe explain me why on backspin or in the Flip i have to use much more effort to get the ball over the table than with my previous blade that was Donic Person Power Play. I mean Is this something generally good and i should get used to it ?
Hey Gabriel, so firstly I think yes it’s something that you will get used to and the way that carbon blades compared to wood blades play and feel is quite different so it’s a case of adjusting to this. With the blocking it will be down to have a faster reaction time off the blade compared to the Person powerplay, so you will need to be a bit softer on the contact of blocks and close the angle slightly. With your backhand open up I would say it feels like more effort as the feedback you are getting from the blade isn’t as clear when using a carbon blade so you just need to get used to that feeling and practice really brushing the ball well and accelerating through the contact
