Coach CornerMatch playrushing
Hamza Caratela asked 1 month ago

Hey guys, I think I’ve asked this question before. If I have, then I’m still feeling rushed when playing in a topspin rally. Everything is just too fast for me to adapt and I cannot react in time and start rushing every shot. I lose so many points like this and its getting really frustrating because I’m not getting the match results I want. When I do try to take my time, it’s often a low quality shot which the opponent hits the ball by me leaving me again confused and frustrated at what’s happening. What would you guys recommend me to do next?

Hey Hamza, Ok so I think the main thing to help you in this area will be working on having shorter shots and a quick recovery, this will help you be able to still keep up the pace and not rush in the faster rallies. Also I think if you work on active blocking, so when someone is playing fast topspin shots at you and you have to move around and block the ball back low, I often use this to stay in the rallies until you have a chance to get back into a topspin shot. I also think if you can stay more relaxed and not tense up this is a really big reason players feel rushed and not able to keep up in a topspin rally. So working on these short topspin shots using the forearm and staying loose and relaxed, these 2 things for me if you can start to improve will make a big difference.

This will be a good drill for you to try which will help 🙂
