Settling down on equipment
Hi coaches,
Over the past 2 years I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of different equipment. My problem is that I can’t find a setup where I can utilize my strong forehand topspin and somewhat okay footwork, together with a backhand that always feel unreliable and not threatening enough. How do you settle on which kind of rubber and blade you want? (Even choosing between pimple in or pimple out)
Hey Casper, yeah it’s not easy for sure to decide. What I would say is that I’ve always felt with equipment is that you should have equipment that helps you with your weaknesses because with the strongest parts of your game you will be able to adapt easily and play well anyway. So for example for me I don’t have a lot of power so I went to a faster blade to help me be able to get more speed in my shots, my control is good anyway so I adjusted to the passive game easily. So my advice would be to choose the set up where you feel it helps the weaker parts of your game the most and then try to stick with it for some time and really get comfortable using it. I hope that makes sense and any questions just let me know. Tom 🙂
