tenergy-05-v-80
sraepa tI Hi
I have seen reviews of tenergy 05 and also the 80 however I wanted to know the main difference between them both.
i have recently started using tenergy and currently have 80 on both sides on butterfly Innerforce Layer ZLC. I originally stayed away from 05 for the main reason it is perceived as sensitive to incoming spin.
I originally thought that 80 would be a good place to start. If I could have thoughts on how you guys found the differences.
Hey Dipak1974,
Ok I think to be honest overall the differences between all the tenergy rubbers in the series are not too big.
Tenergy 80 is in between 05 and 64, it has a slightly lower arc than 05 and perhaps a touch more control in comparison. So it should be the middle ground between all the tenergy rubbers in terms of the balance of speed and spin.
As I said I don’t think the differences between each one are too big, just slight variations on each other. So I would stick with the 80 unless you find you don’t like it etc. It’s important to play with equipment you are used to and comfortable with.
If you’d like any more information just let us know and we’ll get back to you ?
Hey Sraepa
Great question.
So Tenergy are all pretty similar in terms of their rubbers properties but all have slightly different variations in playing qualities. The 80 sits betwen the 05 and 64. The 80 feels a touch slower than 05 and has more control. 05 seems to be more responsive and comes off the bat quicker, whereas the 80 is a bit more passive so you haVe greater control. 05 is a higher quality rubber in terms of speed and spin howvwr doesnt have the same amount of control as the 80.
How are you finding 80? The Innerforce blade you have is excellent lots of confrol for a carbon blade.
Hey Guys thanku for the responses much appreciated. Sorry Dan my original message had a weird typo but my names Deep… ? my bad….
My current setup is relatively new about a month. I am getting on really well with it and am training/playing 3 hours per day 3-4 times per week so have got use to it very quick. I have no complaints about the set up the reason why I asked is whether 05 would be an upgrade in some way at some stage. I am a topspin orientated player and wondered with your experiences whether you found 05 more spinnier and easier for open ups than the 80. I do recall in your review mentioned 80 to probably be better suited for backhand.
A team mate is moving to the new dignics and is passing on his 05’s to me on a spare blade he has similar to my innerforce. So I guess I can test to see how I get on with that set up without disrupting my own set up.
One thing with 80 I do find very easy is blocking and placing aggressive blocks with good control. But I suspect 05 would be better at open ups and imparting more spin on opposition. I guess I won’t know till I try but what I don’t want to do is chop and change. Once I have ideal setup for me I wish to stick to it and just train hard.

Deep
Hey Deep,
Firstly fantastic work getting 3 hours of 3-4 times per week practice, that is a great amount and will really help you develop fast. Yes definitely try your friends setup as you are right the Tenergy 05 generates more spin than 80 and to me feels a bit more responsive. If you are training often and feel your technique is very stable then moving from 80 to 05 should be a good transition. I agree with you that 80 is easier in the passive game such as blocking and pushing and has good control.
Let me know how you get on with 05, good luck and keep working hard 🙂
Anything you need give us a shout.
Regards,
Dan
Cheers Dan
I will try out the 05 but I think after season finishes in couple weeks I may put spare 05 on forehand at least and twiddle between both sides. Probably best way to test I guess.
Thanks for your input much appreciated!
Deep
Sounds great Deep, that is a good idea.
Good luck and keep me informed 🙂
Dan
Hi guys,
I just had a quick question and not sure if its me but I have used T05 on 2 other blades and what i have noticed compared to the T80s I have is that with T05 you can feel the ball sink into the rubber a bit more. Other thing that I have been working on is backhand open ups and I have found usings friends T05 the open up seems easier than with T80 I currently have. Almost effortless.
I have my T80s on the innerforce layer ZLC and i used the T05s on a friends Apolonia blade which is same composition so i dont think its the blade. I have also used T05 on the Tibhar stratus Carbon blade which are very similar compositions to mine. Each time I can feel that there is more dwell time than the T80. When you guys reviewed the rubbers did you find that T05 sank into ball bit more and was easier to open up with.
Just wanted your views.
Any comments please?
