Hi Guys,

Trying to get more attack in my game and looking for any suggestions on the third ball attack. You have a nice 5th ball video, are there any key points to think about for third ball attack? I know its set up with the serve? Thanks!

Hi Bobv,

Thays funny you ask about this topic because a couple of days ago myself and Dan were filming new videos and we made one on how to serve to give yourself the best chance of a third ball attack!

Alot of it is picking the right ball to attack strongly and if you get a good return sometimes going for more spin rather than power is important. However you can try to give yourself chances to third ball attack by using short float/no spin serves or also long fast surprise serves. Woth float serves if you can get them short and low players sometimes return the ball high because they expect backspin on the serve giving you a chance to attack quickly.

Also long fast serves of you can disguise them well can catch out opponents and force them into a weak return. Again what’s key is preparation to always be low and ready after your serve so you can move quickly and take advantage, also even when you go gor a strong third ball attack to keep the quality of spin and not hit to flat to maintain safety.

When you go for more power it should come from the legs, body and a good relaxed arm acceleration through the ball. Also important to remember to play with good placement on this shot and not straight to the opponents bat, try to find a wide angle or right at the body/crossover to make things hard for them. Keep an eye out for our video on this in the next month or two which goes into more detail on this!
